Price book

Your pricing, out of your head and into the system

Import your price list once — or let Office learn it from the quotes you send — and never re-type a unit price again.

Every owner carries a price book in their head: what a fixture install runs, what a service call costs, what you charged that customer last spring. JMJ Office writes it down. Import your list from a CSV, add items by hand, or turn on autocapture and let every quote you send teach the book. Then, on the next quote or invoice, start typing and your price is already there.

  • CSV import, idempotent by design

Bring your existing price list — description and unit price required, unit, tax rate and SKU optional. Re-import anytime; matching items update instead of duplicating.

  • Type-ahead where you work

On every quote and invoice line, start typing a description, SKU or item number and the book suggests the match — your manual and imported prices first, always.

  • A book that fills itself

Turn on autocapture and every quote you send adds its line items to the book. Your hand-entered and imported prices are never overwritten — autocapture only learns what you haven’t already told it.

  • Suggestions from your own history

Office can also suggest what you typically charge, computed from the quotes and invoices you’ve actually issued — your real median price, not a guess. One tap saves it to the book.

  • The engine under the AI composer

When the AI composer drafts a quote from a plain-English description, the price book is where its prices come from. The better your book, the less you edit.

Why a price book beats a spreadsheet

A spreadsheet holds numbers; a price book prices work. The difference is where it lives — inside the quote form, at the exact moment you need it, with type-ahead, tax rates and units attached. No alt-tabbing, no copy-paste, no “what did we charge last time?”

And because the book rides your real quoting history, it stays honest as your prices drift up. Update an item once and every future quote carries it.

Set it up in the time it takes to pour a coffee

Export whatever you have — a supplier list, a QuickBooks item export, a plain spreadsheet — into CSV with a description and unit price column, and import it. That’s the whole setup. From then on the book maintains itself: manual edits win, imports refresh, autocapture fills the gaps.

FAQ

Price book questions, answered

The details owners ask about before they switch.

Is the price book free?

Yes — the price book, CSV import and type-ahead are part of free JMJ Office. The AI composer that drafts quotes from your book is an Office Unlimited feature.

Will autocapture overwrite prices I set by hand?

Never. Manual and imported prices always win. Autocapture only adds items the book doesn’t have, and only ever updates entries it created itself.

Can I use SKUs and item numbers?

Yes. Items carry optional SKUs and units, and suggestions match on description, SKU or item number — whichever you type.

What if the same item has different prices for different jobs?

The book suggests; you decide. Every suggestion lands as an editable line — adjust the price on the quote and, if you want the new number kept, save it back to the book in one tap.
